This post will take readers through a sneak peek of what they can expect on ANA Business Class travelling from Changi Airport. I was travelling on a business trip to the U.S. The flight from Singapore to Narita was on a Boeing 787 Dreamliner.
One of the perks that Business Class passengers get is gaining access to the SilverKris Lounge. This lounge can be found after the check-in area.
Free food and drinks
There , you’ll find a free buffet that you can have when you enter the lounge. Hence, you may skip the meal outside the check-in area and just stick with the free one provided by coming in slightly earlier.
In the buffet, there is also a free flow of drinks like wine and beer. Tea lovers can also get access to premium TWG teas.
Another thing you can find in the lounge is the amenities provided. From showers that provide everything you need to a refreshment kit at the basins, this is great for travelers who have a layover in Singapore and want to refresh themselves. In fact, this was also available at the ANA lounge in Narita and used by my colleagues and myself.
An interesting machine is the shoe shiner that you can find in the SilverKris Lounge in the mens room.
On the plane
The perks of flying business class evidently extend to the plane as well.
The seat is furnished with a retractable table and a seat that fully reclines. On my flight the “side desk” alternates so that your leg will go under the “side desk” of the passenger in front (see featured picture). It’s my preference to have the window seat that is closer to the window than the aisle to minimize disruption.
Apart from equipment, ANA also provides a futon-like mattress, a blanket that feels like a comforter, a pillow and a pair of headphones. One more great thing is the they provide slip-on slippers. I was wearing this throughout the flight. They also provide sweaters on some flights.
ANA also provides a refreshment kit in a blue drawstring bag with ear plugs, toothbrush and toothpaste, eye mask and a perfume. On the second leg of the flight, the refreshment kit provided contained locitanne products.
In order to fully experience business class, it is suggested that travelers use it on flights that are at least 7 hours or more. Additionally, you should also try to reach slightly earlier or accommodate for 2-3 hours of transit to visit the lounges. Typically the lounge will serve food of that country that you are transiting in. Some lounges like the one in Narita airport even have a star wars simulation ride that you can try. The longer transit time will also enable travelers to buy last time souvenirs for your friends and family.
There are however some drawbacks from using certain airlines. For example, on the ANA business class flight I was on, the movie variety was rather limited and I ended up finishing 2 books on the two legs of the flight.
In the end, the pros outweigh the cons especially for long flights although it would be hard to revert back to economy after experiencing such great perks.
