Training to Trek: My Own Ultimate Packing List

Packing for a trek is one of the most important things you can do to prepare for your trek.and it is something that I’ve been trying to refine. This blog post shows you what I typically bring for my 1-2 week treks and some suggested retailers.

Ultimate Packing List

  • 2-3 dri fit short sleeved shirts
  • 2 long sleeved thermal tops and bottoms (1 for sleeping – I like merino wool from icebreaker but they can be rather pricey)
  • 2 trekking pants (detachable if possible. Decathalon has some really cheap ones!)
  • Undergarment (disposables)
  • Fleece jacket (may be synthetic as well)
  • Down jacket (to be rented)
  • Outer waterproof windbreaker
  • 2 pairs of regular long socks (for daily trekking)

  • Sun Hat
  • Beanie
  • Buff / Balaclava (variety of uses – 2 for exchanging between them)
  • Gloves (to be used at higher altitudes)

  • Toothbrush
  • Toothpaste
  • Listerine mouthwash
  • Foot powder
  • Microfibre Towel
  • Lipbalm
  • Wet wipes
  • Hand sanitiser
  • Sunscreen (SPF 50 or more)
  • Toilet rolls (really important! I tend to remove the cardboard in the middle)

  • Down sleeping bag (to be rented)
  • High-cut trekking boots
  • Trekking poles
  • Headlamps (with batteries)
  • Hydration bag/ Water bottle

  • Camera + Tripod (gotta love these starry night skies. Also, good to have a camera which can be recharged via USB)
  • Large portable battery (at least 10000mAH but 20000 mAH would be best)
  • Creative Muvo mini bluetooth speaker

This is the list I’m trekking with for my trip to Annapurna Circuit.

I will update this post when I’m back if there are any changes I think should be made so watch this space!
